Rockstar put a date on new Grand Theft Auto VI footage, and then kept it — just not the date the community spent months predicting, and not under the name it expected.
Official-status check — August 7, 2026, 08:25 UTC (13:55 IST): Verified on three first-party surfaces. Rockstar’s Newswire post dated August 6 announces Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, subtitled “Coming August 27 to Netflix and YouTube”. At that point the live GTA VI page carried the banner “AN EXTENDED LOOK, COMING AUGUST 27” above its November 19 date; it has since flipped to “AN EXTENDED LOOK: NOW PLAYING”. Rockstar’s official YouTube channel published a matching announcement on August 6. None of the three carries the label “Trailer 3”, and we have found no Rockstar post that does.

Rockstar Newswire post 'Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look', dated August 6, 2026, states the premiere schedule verbatim. Corroborated by the official GTA VI site hero ('AN EXTENDED LOOK, COMING AUGUST 27') and by the description of the Aug 6 announcement video. Status was announced-not-yet-published while the premiere was still ahead; both premieres then happened as announced and Rockstar published the programme to its own YouTube channel at 2026-08-28T01:00:48Z. The runtime here, 1609 seconds, is read from YouTube's own structured metadata on that upload (itemprop duration, PT26M49S) and is not a third-party count. Observations remain empty and will stay empty until somebody at NeonPulse watches the programme: a published duration is metadata about the video, not a description of what it shows.

The names differ and I could not compare runtimes, so they are recorded as one row keyed to the fully-verified YouTube upload rather than asserted as two videos or as the same file.
- Rockstar's first-party text for the launch platforms names only 'PlayStation 5' and 'Xbox Series X|S' (Aug 6 Newswire post and the rockstargames.com/VI pre-order module). The ledger anchor's 'PS5 Pro' was NOT corroborated by any first-party source fetched in this pass — flagging for the ledger, not contradicting it.
- Completeness caveat: the official inventory is bounded by Rockstar's own media page (exactly 11 videos) plus the channel RSS feed (most recent 15 uploads, reaching back only to 2025-12-18). A GTA VI video published to YouTube between 2025-05-06 and 2025-12-18 and never added to the media page would fall outside both windows. YouTube channel search for 'Grand Theft Auto VI' proved unreliable — it returned only Trailers 1 and 2, missing the cover art and Extended Look announcement videos that the RSS feed confirmed.
Index updated 2026-08-22. 10 of 10 observations are confirmed by Rockstar in writing; 0 carry a verified timecode, because no frame-level pass has been done. No video frame is reproduced here; every link points to official material.
Trailer 2 is the baseline any Trailer 3 must supersede: it is still Rockstar’s most recent numbered trailer, and its own artwork carries the superseded 26 May 2026 date.
When is the GTA 6 Extended Look, exactly?
Two separate times on the same day, on two different platforms. Rockstar’s own wording, with every other time zone calculated from it rather than retyped:
The six-hour gap is deliberate and it is the detail most worth noticing. Rockstar premiered the footage on Netflix first and put it on its own channel afterwards — a distribution choice it did not make for Trailer 1 or Trailer 2, which both went straight to Rockstar’s own channel.
We are not going to tell you what that means. Rockstar gave a date, a platform and two times; it gave no explanation, and anything beyond those facts is someone’s theory.
Is this “Trailer 3”?
Rockstar has not said so, and this page will not say so for them. The announcement is titled An Extended Look on Newswire, on the GTA VI page banner and on Rockstar’s YouTube upload. Across three surfaces the phrase “Trailer 3” appears nowhere.
That distinction is not pedantry. “An extended look” is the language studios normally use for something longer or structurally different from a trailer — but Rockstar published no runtime, no format description and no content detail alongside the announcement, so at the time even that reading was inference rather than fact. What was confirmed in advance was the name, the date, the platforms and the two times. The runtime is now known: 26:49. The contents are not, because we have not watched it.
If Rockstar later labels it Trailer 3, this page will change to match on the day it happens.
What’s officially confirmed about the GTA 6 trailer 3 release date
One dated event, and no trailer numbered three. Trailer 1 arrived December 4, 2023. Trailer 2 arrived May 6, 2025, and it is still the most recent trailer Rockstar has published. Then came the June 18 cover-art reveal and the June 25 pre-order launch.
The silence broke on August 6, 2026, when Rockstar announced An Extended Look for August 27. That is the first GTA VI Newswire post since June 24 — the Newswire index carried no GTA VI post between those dates when we checked it on August 2 — and the first dated video event Rockstar has committed to since Trailer 2. What remains true is narrower than it was: nothing Rockstar has published carries the label “Trailer 3”.

Everything in this section is the record of what was predicted before August 6, 2026. It is history, kept here because we reported it. It is not a forecast.
Take-Two announced on July 9 that it would report first-quarter fiscal 2027 results before market open on Friday, August 7, 2026, with the call at 8:00 a.m. ET and a webcast at take2games.com/ir. For months that scheduling note did more for third-trailer speculation than anything Rockstar had published, because the loudest prediction was anchored to it.
Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming predicted for months that a third trailer would shadow-drop in early August, possibly timed near the earnings call, and he was unusually careful to label it a personal read of Rockstar’s marketing rhythm rather than a sourced leak. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier published no third-trailer projection that we could find, which was a useful measure of how thin the hard information was.
What actually happened: no trailer dropped in early August. An announcement did. On August 6, 2026 Rockstar published a Newswire post dating An Extended Look for August 27. So the early-August window produced a date, not footage. Rockstar attached that announcement to nothing on Take-Two’s calendar, and nothing on the record ties new GTA 6 footage to the August 7 earnings call.
The weaker rumors: a 20-minute video and a World Cup window
Two other pre-announcement claims deserve smaller font. The “20-minute video” rumor, which held that a third trailer was really an extended gameplay presentation, was weakly sourced when it circulated, and half of it can now be checked. Rockstar’s official upload runs 26:49, so twenty minutes was not the duration. Whether the rumor described the format correctly is a separate question, and not one this page can answer: we have not watched the programme, so we cannot say what shape it takes. And a few outlets floated July 19, the day of the World Cup final, as a drop window. That one was pattern speculation with no sourcing at all, and the date came and went without a trailer.
The recent track record argues for humility. The last consensus theory, that Trailer 3 would arrive alongside pre-orders on June 25, was widely repeated and simply didn’t happen: pre-orders launched without a new trailer. Chatter about Rockstar quietly reshuffling its website in early July was read by some as housekeeping ahead of an announcement; we haven’t verified those changes ourselves, and they could just as easily be routine maintenance.
Does the trailer silence threaten November 19?
No. A delay rumor spread in early July and turned out to have nothing underneath it; no official channel has moved the date. The record points the other way. Rockstar’s November 2025 announcement set the launch at November 19, 2026, and Take-Two’s full-year results in May reaffirmed that date as the driver of its $8.0-8.2 billion FY2027 guidance. Companies do not anchor guidance to dates they privately doubt — an inference on our part, but a well-grounded one.
So the schedule stands: pre-load November 12, launch November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Trailer timing is a marketing question. The release date is not.
What happened on August 27
Both premieres landed as announced. Rockstar published a second Newswire post, An Extended Look - Now Playing, while the Netflix window was open, and the banner on the Grand Theft Auto VI site flipped from “coming August 27” to now playing. The official upload then went to Rockstar’s YouTube channel at 9:00:48 p.m. ET — 48 seconds after the time Rockstar had given three weeks earlier.
It runs 26 minutes 49 seconds. That is read from the duration YouTube publishes with Rockstar’s own upload, not from a third-party count, and it is the single biggest thing the announcement withheld: for three weeks “an extended look” was a name with no length attached to it. Rockstar’s description says the footage was “captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5” and repeats the November 19 date. It does not describe what happens in the programme.
We have not watched it, and this page will not pretend otherwise. Everything above is drawn from what Rockstar published about the upload — the timings, the runtime, the description. What the footage actually shows is not reported here, by anyone at NeonPulse, until someone here has genuinely watched it. Read any site telling you what is in it today with that distinction in mind.
One checkpoint has already cleared. Take-Two reported Q1 FY2027 on August 7, before market open. The written release restated the November 19, 2026 launch date twice, reiterated FY2027 net bookings guidance of $8.0-8.2 billion, and contains no reference to a trailer, to footage, or to An Extended Look. It moved nothing on this page. What it did move sits on the finance side: net bookings of $1.39 billion, down 3% year over year, and a GAAP net loss of $34.1 million, or $0.18 per share.
Both remaining checkpoints have now closed. Rockstar published no further VI Newswire post between the announcement and the premiere, and August 27 itself arrived on schedule on both platforms.
The one reveal the launch lineup is still missing is an answer on GTA 6’s online mode, and Rockstar has not said whether the Extended Look touches it.
Rockstar named a date, two platforms and two times on August 6, 2026, and hit all four. The runtime it withheld then is now published: 26:49. What it still has not done, across the announcement and the Now Playing post that followed, is call any of it “Trailer 3” — so neither does this page.
