UTC

Requires a Netflix subscription. Rockstar has not said whether the footage is exclusive to this window.

The button goes to the official Netflix title page. Verified 2026-08-23: it is live and carries the official synopsis. Netflix published no runtime for it; the official Rockstar YouTube upload later did, and it runs 26:49. Rockstar stated on 27 August that it is now playing there. NeonPulse has not watched it — no authenticated Netflix session was available — so nothing on this page describes what it contains.

UTC

Free to watch, and six hours after the Netflix premiere.

Both times are as Rockstar announced them on 6 August 2026, and both still stood when the sources were re-read on 27 August. Neither the runtime nor the content of the footage has been published. The 27 August update to this card was made after an automated agent re-read Rockstar's own pages — not after a human review, and this page does not claim one.

What is not announced

This is the part most coverage leaves out. Each line is an absence in the public record as of the last verification above — not a hint, not an expectation.

  • Content. Rockstar has still not said what the Extended Look contains — no confirmed characters, locations, mechanics, vehicles or activities.
  • Whether any new date, price or platform information accompanies it.
  • Whether the footage is exclusive to the Netflix window in any way.

Answered since — removed from the list above

  • Whether it will be accompanied by a Newswire post, a store update, or neither. Answered on 27 August: Rockstar published a Newswire post, “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look — Now Playing”. Rockstar Newswire
  • Runtime. Rockstar has published no duration for the footage. Answered on 28 August: Rockstar’s own upload runs 26 minutes 49 seconds. Read from YouTube’s duration metadata on Rockstar’s official channel, published 2026-08-28T01:00:48Z — 48 seconds after the announced 9:00 p.m. ET instant. The 26-second clip on that channel is the announcement and the 24-second item on Netflix is a teaser; this is the programme. Rockstar Newswire

Sources being watched

These first-party surfaces are hashed on each run so that a change has a first-observed timestamp. A detected change is a lead for a human, never an automatic publication.

A known miss, stated rather than hidden. On the 27 August run the monitor classified the Rockstar Newswire index as NO_CHANGE — on the day Rockstar published a new post to it. The reason is that the Newswire renders its list in the browser, so the monitor hashes a 4KB shell whose markup does not move when the posts do, and every field it tries to extract comes back empty. The new post was found by opening the page in a real browser instead. Treat a NO_CHANGE on that row as “nothing detectable by hashing”, not as “nothing happened”.

What we will do on the night, published in advance

These 10 steps are written down now, 2026-08-22, while nobody is under time pressure — because the rules that get broken after a premiere are broken in the two hours immediately following it. Come back on the 28th and check this list against what we actually published. 0 of 10 complete.

  1. Confirm the video is live at an official URL and record that URL, the exact official title, and the runtime as YouTube reports it.

Everything downstream is anchored to a first-party artefact. A breakdown written from a re-upload is a breakdown of something Rockstar did not publish.

  2. Record the two premiere instants as observed, and correct them on the page if either differed from the announcement.

The site published exact UTC instants in advance. If Rockstar slipped either one, the honest move is to say the prediction was wrong, not to quietly restamp it.

  3. Add observations to the trailer evidence index one at a time, each with a timecode verified by watching that timecode.

A guessed timecode sends the reader to the wrong second and discredits every other row on the table. Unverified timecodes stay null.

  4. Keep every observation in the "what is on screen" column and every reading in the "what it is taken to mean" column.

This is the distinction the index exists for. Post-premiere time pressure is exactly when the two get merged into "the trailer confirms".

  5. Set rockstarConfirms true only where Rockstar states it in text — a Newswire post, an official description, a store listing.

A visual is never a confirmation, however clear it looks. If the only evidence is footage, the answer is no.

  6. Route any new named location through the provenance script, so the artefact naming it and its date are recorded rather than assumed.

A place named for the first time in this footage gets a real, dated first-party artefact. That is the one moment when true first-appearance provenance is actually establishable.

  7. Run the source monitor and re-check every absence probe, since a premiere is the most likely moment for a PC, Online or requirements statement to appear.

The negative answers on three strategic pages are timestamped claims. If one stops being true, it must stop being published the same day.

  8. Update any claim in the ledger whose status actually changed, with a changeLog entry naming what moved and why.

A claim that changes silently is worse than one that was never made. The ledger publishes its own corrections.

  9. Rehost nothing. No frame, no thumbnail, no clip, no downloaded asset. Link to official video only.

Rockstar's fan-content policy excludes commercial digital publishing, and this site is monetised. The rule does not relax because the footage is new.

  10. Publish what the footage did NOT settle alongside what it did.

The gaps are the product. A premiere generates a hundred articles listing what was shown and almost none listing what is still unknown afterwards.

The Netflix window — 27 August, 3:00 p.m. ET

Confirmed — Rockstar's own published text

Every line here is a sentence Rockstar published. Each was re-read directly from Rockstar's pages at 08:05 UTC on 27 August, immediately before this page was edited.

  • The Extended Look is now playing on Netflix. Rockstar Newswire, 27 August
  • It is coming to Rockstar's official YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto VI site later the same day at 9:00 p.m. ET — 06:30 IST on 28 August. The second window is unchanged from the original announcement.
  • Rockstar states the footage was “Captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5”. Those are Rockstar's words, quoted; it is the only genuinely new factual statement in the post.
  • rockstargames.com/VI now reads “An Extended Look: Now Playing”, where on 24 August it read “An Extended Look, coming August 27”.

Observed by NeonPulse — nothing

We did not watch it. No authenticated Netflix session was available to this desk, and signing in was not an option we would take. The programme was never played here and not one frame of it was seen.

So this desk publishes the runtime the platform supplies — 26:49, read from Rockstar's own upload — and no characters, no locations, no mechanics, no vehicles, no activities, no timecodes and no quotations from the programme, not because they are being held back but because we have not seen them and will not repeat someone else's account of them as though we had. Everything above comes from Rockstar's published text and metadata. Nothing above comes from the footage.

Interpretation — what “in-game footage” does and does not settle

This is our reading, kept separate from the quoted line above on purpose. “Captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5” establishes where the pixels came from: the game running on a PS5, rather than pre-rendered CG. By itself it does not establish that what you see is player-controlled gameplay rather than scripted or camera-directed capture, nor the final resolution, frame rate or performance, nor that the Xbox Series X|S version matches. Rockstar states none of those things, so neither do we.

Unresolved after this window

  • Runtime. Answered. Rockstar’s own upload runs 26:49, published — 48 seconds after the announced instant. Read from YouTube’s duration metadata on Rockstar’s official channel ↗ , not from a third-party count.
  • What the programme actually contains. Rockstar’s upload carries a description — “Captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5… the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet” — but that states the capture platform and a claim about scale, not what is in it. No characters, locations, mechanics, vehicles or activities are named by Rockstar, and NeonPulse has not watched it, so nothing on this page describes its contents.
  • Whether Rockstar's own upload at 9:00 p.m. ET is the same cut as the Netflix one. Rockstar has not said.

The full worksheet behind this section, including the fields left UNAVAILABLE and why, is committed in the repository as the run's evidence receipt. Ledger record: extended-look-capture-provenance.
