Where to Buy GTA 6: Every US Retailer, Same $79.99

TL;DR

Digital: PlayStation Store or Xbox Store. Boxed: Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, GameStop, or Target. Every US channel charges $79.99.

Boxed copies are Standard Edition only and contain a download code, not a disc. The $99.99 Ultimate Edition lives on the digital storefronts.

Order anywhere before November 20 and the Vintage Vice City Pack is identical. The one-month GTA+ membership is digital pre-orders only — a boxed copy does not carry it.

Still two editions, no collector’s edition. Rockstar’s editions support page — last updated by Rockstar on August 18, 2026 and re-read September 4 — lists Standard and Ultimate and nothing else. Take-Two’s August 7 results release brought no pre-order numbers, and An Extended Look premiered on August 27 without adding an edition.

The edition choice is not locked at checkout. Rockstar sells the Ultimate Edition Upgrade separately “at any time”, and a boxed Standard buyer can add it once the download code has been redeemed — so buying the cheaper box does not shut the door on Ultimate.

The honest answer to where to buy GTA 6 is: almost anywhere, for exactly the same money. Rockstar’s $79.99 Standard and $99.99 Ultimate prices hold at every US storefront we checked, with nobody discounting a cent, so the real comparison is everything the price tag doesn’t show — delivery timing, which editions each channel actually carries, and what’s inside the box.

Where to buy GTA 6: the short version

Two facts do most of the work below: the boxed lane carries the Standard Edition only, and the digital lane is the one with no shipping step between paying and pre-load day.

Where can you buy GTA 6 digitally?

GTA 6 is sold digitally on exactly two storefronts: the PlayStation Store and the Xbox Store, each carrying both editions. No PC version has been announced, so there’s no Steam or Epic page to hunt for, and any storefront claiming to sell a PC copy is selling something Rockstar hasn’t announced.

Which retailers sell a boxed copy of GTA 6?

All five major US retailers have live boxed pre-order listings: Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, GameStop, and Target. Each charges the same $79.99, and each carries the Standard Edition only.

No retailer exclusive has been announced, either — no steelbook, no collector’s edition, no chain-specific bonus DLC. Two editions are currently listed, and the pre-order bonus (the Vintage Vice City Pack, for orders placed before November 20) is identical no matter where you order, though the one-month GTA+ membership attaches to digital pre-orders only. Rockstar flattened every variable that normally makes a where-to-buy comparison complicated. What’s left is three questions: digital or boxed, Standard or Ultimate, and which retailer gets a box to your door fastest. That flatness is current as of mid-July; if anyone breaks from list price closer to launch, we’ll note it here.

The digital storefronts: PlayStation Store and Xbox Store

Both stores list the same two editions at the same two prices; where they diverge is the fine print on the GTA+ month, which runs on a different clock at each.

Where can you buy the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition?

The GTA 6 Ultimate Edition is sold only on the two first-party digital stores. The official PlayStation listing shows the Standard Edition at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99; the Xbox Store shows the same two prices. This matters more than it sounds, because those stores are the only place the Ultimate Edition appears at all — every boxed retail listing we’ve checked is Standard-only, and Rockstar’s own editions support page states there is no physical Ultimate Edition. If you want Ultimate on day one, you’re buying digital.

Platform coverage is identical on both: PS5 and PS5 Pro on Sony’s side (the listing carries a PS5 Pro Enhanced tag, details undisclosed), Xbox Series X|S on Microsoft’s. Sony’s listing states the game is not playable on PlayStation 4, and no Xbox One version has been announced.

The practical advantages of digital are the usual ones. The game sits in your library the moment you pay, pre-load starts November 12 with no shipping variable attached, and there’s no code to redeem, lose, or gift to the wrong account.

One piece of fine print on the pre-order bonus. Both digital stores include the Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+ for purchases before November 20. The membership is a digital-pre-order benefit, so boxed buyers get the Pack and not the month — and mind the redemption terms, which Rockstar’s support page publishes for both: March 31, 2027 on PlayStation Store, and 180 days after purchase on Xbox, which the Xbox listing states as 180 days from placing the pre-order. Either way the subscription auto-renews after the free month unless you cancel — the kind of thing you set a phone reminder for now and thank yourself for in December.

Boxed retailers: Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, GameStop, Target

Every one of these five ships a download code rather than a disc, which is why the delivery date carries weight at all: the box has to arrive and the code has to be redeemed before pre-load can start.

When will a boxed GTA 6 pre-order be delivered?

Listed boxed delivery windows run from November 12, pre-load day, to release day on November 19, depending on the retailer. Same game, same price, same edition at all five, so the comparison comes down to when the box reaches you:

Retailer rows last checked: July 22, 2026. That date belongs to the table, not to the page — this article carries a later “updated” stamp because its news layer has been refreshed since, and we would rather you knew which part of it is three weeks old than have the freshest date on the page vouch for the oldest thing on it.

Two caveats follow from that. Delivery windows are what the listings and pre-order coverage showed at that July check — targets, not guarantees, and exactly the kind of detail that shifts as launch approaches. And none of these five retailers is in our source ledger: the prices and dates above are retailer copy, not a Rockstar or Take-Two statement.

Amazon’s listing is the most specific of the group: delivers November 12, playable November 19. That’s the entire logic of shipping a code a week early — the box arrives on pre-load day, you redeem immediately, and launch night becomes a button press instead of a wait measured in hours. GameStop is at least upfront about the format, putting code-in-box right in the product name.

A snippet-shopping warning while we’re here: if search results have shown you Target selling GTA 6 at $51.99 or $64.99, that’s a stale search snippet, not a deal. The live page says $79.99, like everywhere else.

And be clear-eyed about what any of these boxes contains: a download code, not a disc — that’s Rockstar’s own description of the physical version, and Target’s listing states it just as plainly: “A disc will not be included in the box.” Redeeming the code starts the same download a digital buyer gets. Amazon’s listing adds one more wrinkle: per Rockstar’s support page, PlayStation codes are region-locked by account region, and Amazon’s is for accounts registered in the US or Canada. So why buy boxed at all? Two honest reasons: gifts and shelves. A box under the tree beats an emailed code, and some people want the spine in their collection. Just know the recipient needs the console and the account before the code means anything, and once redeemed it’s tied to that account.

Standard or Ultimate

The $20 gap buys in-game extras and zero story, and Rockstar’s support page confirms the Ultimate upgrade stays purchasable at any time after launch, so nothing at checkout forces the call. The contents are listed in Standard vs Ultimate and argued in is Ultimate worth it.

The deadline that actually matters is November 20. Order before then, at any store and on either edition, and the Vintage Vice City Pack is yours; the GTA+ month rides along only on a digital pre-order. That bonus is the only time-sensitive element on this page. The Ultimate content has no deadline at all.

Buying GTA 6 outside the US

The flat-pricing rule mostly holds worldwide — local list prices, no discounts. These list prices come from the first-party PlayStation storefronts, the same source family we use for the US and India, so they are not guesswork: PlayStation UK lists the Standard Edition at £69.99 and the Ultimate at £89.99, and PlayStation France lists €79,99 and €99,99. Both carry the same one-month GTA+ pre-order bonus, and both note it auto-renews.

Two things about that paragraph are not first-party, and we are separating them deliberately rather than letting the sourced figures lend them credibility. The pay-in-three-instalments option reported on the UK boxed listing is retailer copy, not a Sony or Rockstar term. And France is the one market where a boxed discount has been reported: a retailer price war reportedly pushed the boxed Standard to around €60, with Amazon France’s discounted listing reported sold out. We have not verified that discount against a retailer listing ourselves — the €79,99 above is the publisher list price, which is a different claim. If the €60 price resurfaces at Fnac, Micromania, or Cdiscount, it would be a rare break from list, and we will only report it once we can see the listing.

Where can you buy GTA 6 in India?

In India GTA 6 sells digitally on the PlayStation Store at Rs 5,999 Standard and Rs 7,499 Ultimate, with boxed Standard copies at local retailers and the same November 20 bonus attached. One note that applies well beyond India: if a store page shows a November 18 release date, that reads as a storefront rendering its release timestamp in a different timezone, not a second release date — Rockstar has announced one date, November 19. Rockstar has announced no unlock hour for any territory, and GTA 6 release time by country sets out the two patterns the unlock could follow and what each would mean where you live.

What to watch

The August 7 checkpoint is behind us, and it moved nothing on this page. Take-Two reported Q1 FY2027 results that morning and the release published no GTA 6 pre-order total: the word “pre-order” does not appear in it. It reiterated FY2027 net bookings guidance of $8.0 to $8.2 billion and restated November 19 twice. Our breakdown is at Take-Two Q1 FY2027 results. So the circulating 39-million figure still has nothing official behind it — it is not analyst estimation but an unsupported viral claim traced to a single unsourced X post.

Rockstar’s own next date is separate and already public. On August 6 it announced Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, which premiered August 27 on Netflix at 3 p.m. ET and arrived on Rockstar’s YouTube channel and the GTA VI site at 9 p.m. ET. Rockstar has not called it “Trailer 3”, and published a 26:49 duration for the official upload and has said nothing about its contents.

The other development that would rewrite this page is a collector’s edition. No GTA 6 Collector’s Edition has been announced, and outlets suggesting one could appear later are reasoning from GTA V precedent, not from any announcement. If Rockstar adds one, the retailer table above gets a new column overnight.

Sellouts are the last variable. Digital can’t run out; boxes can, at least temporarily — France’s reported sellout showed as much. Until something moves, the calculus is stable: digital if you want Ultimate or instant delivery, boxed from whichever retailer’s date suits you, and anything ordered before November 20 carries the same bonus everywhere.
