TL;DR

  • Two GTA 6 trailers exist: December 4, 2023 and May 6, 2025. Everything below is officially shown or officially described.
  • Rockstar has named six regions of Leonida: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Mount Kalaga, Port Gellhorn and Ambrosia.
  • The songs are Tom Petty’s “Love Is a Long Road” and The Pointer Sisters’ “Hot Together” — both charted hard afterwards.
  • No official map size exists, no voice cast is confirmed, no online mode is announced.
  • A third trailer has no official date. This is the baseline you’ll want when it lands.

Most “hidden details” roundups are 40% frame-pausing and 60% wishful thinking. This one is the other kind. Below is what Rockstar has actually put on the record across both GTA 6 trailers and its own website, sorted by category, with the fan-made stuff clearly separated out at the end so you know which is which.

The two trailers, and what each one was for

Trailer 1 landed Monday, December 4, 2023, roughly a minute and a half long, and it did one job: establish the state and the pair. Lucia and Jason, sun, and the Miami-shaped city. It cleared 100 million views and broke viewership records in the process, and our GTA 6 first trailer recap covers that debut beat by beat.

Trailer 2 arrived on May 6, 2025, and did something very different. It was longer, denser, cut to a full song, and it landed alongside a large website update on Rockstar’s own site: character pages, region pages, and a wave of screenshots. Trailer 2 is widely described as the most-viewed video game trailer of all time.

The gap between them is the detail nobody clocks: seventeen months between Trailer 1 and Trailer 2, and over a year since Trailer 2 with no third trailer. Rockstar has spent this campaign spacing beats far wider than the GTA 5 run, where six trailers were compressed into the final months before launch. It shipped cover art, a new logo, the main theme and 51 official screenshots in June 2026, and opened pre-orders on June 25 without a new trailer attached — an unusual choice that tells you the marketing is deliberately back-loaded rather than exhausted.

One structural point that matters for reading any detail list: a lot of what people call “Trailer 2 details” came from the website that shipped with it, not from footage. Sources actually disagree on whether some supporting-character bios first appeared in December 2023 or in the May 2025 site update, so this piece attributes them to Rockstar’s site rather than pinning them to a specific trailer. That distinction is exactly the kind of thing sloppy roundups paper over.

Locations: the six regions of Leonida

The setting is the state of Leonida, Rockstar’s version of Florida. Vice City sits at its center, but it is not the whole map. Rockstar has publicly named and described six regions, which is the closest thing to an official geography we have.

Vice City. The Miami analogue, presented by Rockstar as the sun-and-fun capital of America. Beaches, high-rises, nightlife, and the visual identity the entire marketing campaign leans on.

The Leonida Keys. The Florida Keys stand-in. This is where Jason and Lucia’s starting apartment sits, as shown in Trailer 2. If you want a single detail most people miss, it’s that: the game’s opening living situation has an on-the-record location.

Grassrivers. The Everglades analogue, described as subtropical wetland — swamps, marshes, cypress forest. Rockstar confirms hunting, fishing and wildlife here, alligators included.

Mount Kalaga. The elevated, inland counterweight to all that coastline. Officially associated with hunting, fishing and off-road trails.

Port Gellhorn. A working Gulf-coast port town. Industrial, blue-collar, tonally the opposite end of the state from the Vice City strip.

Ambrosia. A small coastal county, the quietest entry on the list and the one with the least detail attached to it so far.

Read those six together and the shape of the game gets clearer than any leaked map render will tell you: dense city, island chain, wetland, mountain, port town, rural county. That’s a state, not a city. What it is not is a measured number — see the last section.

Characters: who Rockstar has actually named

The leads are Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, framed as a crime couple. Lucia is the first mandatory female protagonist in the series, and Rockstar’s own bio establishes that she starts the story fresh out of prison, ready to tilt the odds her way. Jason’s bio is the sharper piece of writing: “Jason wants an easy life, but things just keep getting harder,” per Rockstar’s character page. That single line does more story work than most trailers manage in two minutes.

The officially named supporting cast, all with Rockstar-written bios:

  • Cal Hampton: Jason’s friend and fellow associate of Brian’s, who spends his time snooping on Coast Guard communications.
  • Boobie Ike: a Vice City legend who converted street money into a legitimate empire spanning real estate, a strip club and a recording studio.
  • Brian Heder: a drug runner out of the golden age of Keys smuggling, still moving product through his boat yard, now with third wife Lori. He lets Jason live rent-free at one of his properties in exchange for help with local shakedowns.
  • Dre’Quan Priest: named with a published bio on Rockstar’s character pages.
  • Raul Bautista: named with a published bio on Rockstar’s character pages.
  • Real Dimez: the duo of Bae-Luxe and Roxy.

The crime-couple framing is Rockstar’s own, not a fan read, and the one hard story beat attached to it is that Lucia is released from Leonida Penitentiary early in the game. That’s a structural detail hiding in plain sight: the story starts with her already out, which rules out the prison-break opening a lot of people assumed from Trailer 1’s imagery. For the full picture on her, see our lucia caminos backstory writeup.

Rockstar’s pages also surface Lori Heder, Stefanie, Phil, and Wyman of Wyman’s World Auto Salvage Co. Wyman is the one to file away: he shows up again as the fixer behind the Ultimate Edition’s Classic Car Collection questline, which is a rare case of trailer-era character material connecting directly to a purchasable content list.

Note what is missing from that list. Voice casting has never been officially confirmed for any role, including Lucia. Reports have named actors; Rockstar has not. Any “confirmed voice actor” claim you see is press reporting, not a credit.

Vehicles and activities visible in the footage

This is where detail lists usually start inventing things, so keep it to what the footage shows and what Rockstar describes.

Trailer 1’s visible content included beaches and bayous, cars racing on highways, speedboats, and dirt bikes weaving through traffic. That’s a short list, but it’s a deliberate one: land, water and dirt in ninety seconds, which is Rockstar signalling that the state is the point.

The activity set attached to the regions is officially stated rather than inferred. Hunting and fishing are confirmed for both Grassrivers and Mount Kalaga, with off-road trails specific to Kalaga, and wildlife including alligators specific to the wetlands. Port Gellhorn being a functioning port town implies a working waterfront rather than a decorative one.

The Ultimate Edition listing adds a few concrete vehicles and venues to the world’s vocabulary: a ‘95 Grotti Cheetah, the Hawk & Little Morgan Revolver at the Vercetti Estate, personalized Girardi ES9 and Klose K17 variants for Jason and Lucia respectively, plus named locations like Rideout Customs, Sara’s Unisex Salon and Stock 305. Those are storefront details rather than trailer frames, but they are first-party and they name real places in the map.

For the mechanics side — mission structure, switching between the two leads, in-game phone — a lot of what circulates traces to a product listing rather than to trailer footage. Treat it accordingly, and see our gta 6 gameplay features breakdown for what actually holds up.

Music and tone: the two songs did real damage

Trailer 1 ran on Tom Petty’s “Love Is a Long Road,” from his 1989 solo album Full Moon Fever. Petty’s official site confirmed the placement directly. Streams of the track rose 36,979% week over week and passed 11 million plays by December 6, 2023, two days after the trailer.

Trailer 2 ran on “Hot Together” by The Pointer Sisters, the title track of the trio’s 1986 album. Spotify confirmed streams spiked 182,000% after the trailer. If you have only ever heard one of these numbers, it’s usually that one, and it’s the correct attribution: The Pointer Sisters, 1986, title track — not a needle-drop from some Vice City-era compilation.

The tonal read is worth making explicit, because it’s a real detail rather than a vibe. Both picks are period American pop with a road-and-heat feel, both are pre-2000, and neither is a licensing flex aimed at a 2026 chart audience. Rockstar is scoring Leonida the way it scored the trailers for a 1980s-inflected Florida: warm, slightly worn, and knowingly nostalgic without the game itself being a period piece.

Technical and visual details on the record

The confirmed technical facts are shorter than the speculation, and more useful.

Trailer 2’s footage was captured on PS5. That is Rockstar’s own statement, and it matters because it sets a floor: what you saw is base-console output, not a PC render dressed up for marketing. The game ships on PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026, and the PlayStation Store listing carries a PS5 Pro Enhancement tag with details undisclosed.

Rockstar’s official framing of the game is that GTA VI is a single-player experience. There is no online mode announced for launch — no date, no format, no roadmap. That is a trailer-adjacent detail people consistently get wrong, because two trailers of city life read as multiplayer footage to anyone primed for it.

Beyond that, the June 2026 screenshot drop filled in more visual material than either trailer did. Fifty-one stills you can study at your own pace beat two cuts of fast-moving footage for anyone genuinely hunting detail, and they are just as official. If you have combed both trailers frame by frame and come up empty, that’s the richer vein right now.

What is not a trailer detail

The most common “detail you missed” claims are not details at all. No official map size exists. Every 2x-GTA-5 figure, every interior count, every points-of-interest tally is fan measurement or leak-derived, and no official number has ever been published for GTA 6 or GTA 5. Our gta 6 map size piece walks through why the popular figures don’t hold.

Same treatment applies to the mechanics that circulate from the 2022 material — witness and NPC memory systems, prone movement, body dragging, evidence AI. None of that has been officially shown. Weather-driven hurricane gameplay, fuel systems and sunburn all originate in trailer analysis, not in anything Rockstar said.

What to watch

A third trailer has no official date. The credible projection points to early August, near Take-Two’s August 7 earnings call, and that is a projection from insiders and press reasoning rather than anything Rockstar has stated. When it lands, the useful move is to diff it against this list: any region beyond the six, any named character beyond Rockstar’s current roster, any first-party number attached to the map. Those are the details that will actually be new. The single biggest gap a third trailer could close is the villain — the unnamed cop from Trailer 2 is the most over-read frame in the whole campaign, and we weigh it in the GTA 6 antagonist.
