GTA 6 PC System Requirements: Why None Are Published
Rockstar has announced no PC version and published no official GTA 6 PC system requirements. Here is the console baseline and what to expect from a port.
Core figures are estimates, not official Rockstar or Take-Two numbers. How we tier claims →
Performance — the public record
Every one of the 3 performance questions tracked here has nothing on the public record.
- PlayStation 5 No frame-rate or resolution target published Not announced Nothing to source
- Xbox Series X No frame-rate or resolution target published Not announced Nothing to source
- Xbox Series S No frame-rate or resolution target published Not announced Nothing to source
Reading the board
- 3 Not announced — nothing on the record — an absence, not a zero
Versions Rockstar has not announced
- PC Not announced Rockstar names PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Checked 2026-08-15; no PC version is named on either first-party page.
- PlayStation 5 Pro Enhanced Not published Sony's PlayStation listing marks the PS5 version as PS5 Pro Enhanced, but neither Sony nor Rockstar has published what that enhancement changes. It implies no frame-rate or resolution target.
These are not rows on the board above. The board asks what an announced platform runs at; this asks whether a version exists at all.
Why this leads. No PC specification exists. The board shows the silence with the date it was checked.
Where we stand
The figures below are estimates, not Rockstar or Take-Two numbers. Where a figure comes from a named source, we name it at the figure.
What would change it: a Rockstar Newswire post or a Take-Two filing that contradicts the sourcing here. When one lands we rewrite the piece and log it — see the corrections log.

TL;DR
- Rockstar has published no official GTA 6 PC system requirements, and has announced no PC version to write them for.
- No “leaked minimum and recommended specs” table we have checked carries any Rockstar provenance, and Rockstar has published no numbers for one to leak from.
- The honest floor is the console hardware GTA 6 is being finished on. Microsoft’s own spec page puts Xbox Series X at an 8-core Zen 2 CPU, RDNA 2 graphics, an NVMe SSD and 16GB of GDDR6 — the Series S carries less, and Sony publishes no directly comparable sheet.
- Rockstar’s GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 PC ports set minimums well below the console silicon of their day. We have not verified either listing into our source registry, so we give you the pattern and not the part numbers.
- Real specs appear on a store page, not in a rumor thread. Nothing before that counts.
Type “gta 6 pc system requirements” into Google and you get tidy tables with CPU models, GPU tiers and RAM figures, formatted exactly like a Steam listing. They look official. They are not. Rockstar’s official game page lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, full stop, which means there is no announced PC platform to write requirements for and Rockstar has published no numbers for one. What is happening on Rockstar’s internal build machines is not something this page can see, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

No official requirements exist. Here is that absence, measured.
We fetch the first-party pages below on a schedule and record whether the words appear on them. This is the evidence for the answer, not an opinion about it. Last checked 2026-08-28 08:05 UTC. On this check no term matched on any page, so no match needed classifying and none was performed.
3 of 3 first-party pages checked carry no mention of
system requirements, minimum requirements, recommended specs or 4 related terms.
There are no matches at all.
What this does and does not establish. It establishes that the 7 terms listed above did not appear in the visible text of these 3 pages when they were fetched at 2026-08-28 08:05 UTC. It does not establish that no such announcement exists — only these pages were read, only this text was searched, and a statement made elsewhere, in an image, or after this check would not appear here. Absence on a checked page is evidence; it is not proof of absence in the world.
| First-party page | Response | Result | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rockstar — Grand Theft Auto VI | 200 | no mention | |
| PlayStation Store listing | 200 | no mention | |
| Xbox game page | 200 | no mention |
No match arose on this check, so no classification was required. Checks are automated; every conclusion drawn from one is written by a person. The monitor publishes nothing on its own.
Why official GTA 6 PC system requirements don’t exist
System requirements come from one place: the publisher, on a store page, once a build exists and QA has profiled it. As of this update we have found no GTA 6 PC store page: nothing on Steam, nothing on the Epic Games Store, nothing on the Rockstar launcher. The US PlayStation listing carries the “PS5 Pro Enhanced” badge and states the game is not playable on PS4, and the Xbox Store listing carries “Optimized for Xbox Series X|S.” That is the entire published platform picture.
Rockstar has gone further than silence on hardware detail generally. There is no announced resolution, no framerate target, no performance-versus-quality mode breakdown and no ray-tracing claim for any console, including the PS5 Pro whose enhancement badge is sitting there undefined. If the company hasn’t said what the game does on the hardware it is actually shipping on, it certainly hasn’t costed out a GPU tier for a platform it hasn’t confirmed.
One clarification worth making, because it gets misreported constantly. The “Rockstar is prioritising consoles and PC comes later” line that spread through July 2026 coverage did not come from Rockstar. That coverage attributes it to a former Rockstar developer speaking on a podcast about general development discipline — start with fixed console constraints, extend to other hardware later. We have not verified that interview into our source registry, so treat the attribution itself as unconfirmed and the reasoning as generic industry logic rather than reporting. Either way, an ex-employee talking in general terms is not a spokesperson, and none of it is a Rockstar commitment.
The console hardware baseline GTA 6 is actually built for
The useful anchor is the machines the game is being finished on, and only one manufacturer’s sheet is in our verified source registry. Microsoft publishes the Xbox Series X directly: 8-core Zen 2 at 3.8 GHz, 52 compute units, 16 GB GDDR6 split 10 GB at 560 GB/s and 6 GB at 336 GB/s, plus a custom NVMe SSD. The base PS5 is a broadly comparable Zen 2 and RDNA 2 machine, and the PS5 Pro is a wider GPU with newer ray-tracing hardware and more total memory — but Sony’s figures for either are not in our registry, so we are not printing them here as sourced numbers. Box-by-box, including what the PS5 Pro Enhanced badge does and does not promise, is gta 6 ps5 vs xbox series x.
The part that matters for a port is the bottom of that range, not the top. GTA 6 has to run on Xbox Series S, the weakest box in the generation, and the scaling work that forces is exactly the work that makes shipping across wildly varying PC hardware tractable later. How much that costs Series S owners is its own question.
What Rockstar published for GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC
This is the closest thing to evidence available, and it comes with a disclosure, because the argument of this page is that a specification without provenance is worth nothing.
Rockstar published PC requirements for both games on its own store and support pages. Neither listing is in our verified source registry, so we are not going to recite part numbers off them here. A page that tells you to demand a link and then prints SKUs from memory is doing the thing it warns about.
The shape of those two listings is the part that holds regardless, and it is checkable at the source in about a minute: both games shipped console-first, then arrived on PC with minimums built around parts that were already several generations old, and recommended tiers that landed near the console hardware of their era rather than far beyond it. Rockstar’s PC ports scale down aggressively, because a wide install base is the entire commercial point of porting. Take the pattern. Do not take any number attached to it that you cannot click.
A reasonable expectation range, clearly labeled as an estimate
Everything in this section is our extrapolation from the console specs and Rockstar’s own release history. Rockstar has published none of it. Treat it as a planning aid, not a shopping list.
Storage. Budget 150GB or more, on an SSD. That number is ours, not Rockstar’s: install sizes have risen every generation, Rockstar’s last big PC port was already in that territory, and both consoles stream from fast NVMe drives. Rockstar has never published a map size for GTA 6 or GTA 5, so nobody can scale from geography honestly. An SSD rather than a hard drive is the closest thing to a certainty on this page.
System memory. The Series X has 16GB unified across CPU and GPU, and the other launch consoles sit in the same neighbourhood. PCs split that pool, which typically means the PC equivalent asks for 16GB of system RAM alongside dedicated video memory. A recommended tier at 16GB with 32GB as comfortable headroom is the sane read.
Video memory. 8GB is the realistic minimum for a game built to fill a 16GB unified pool at console settings, with more required for the higher presets a PC port usually adds.
CPU and GPU class. Rockstar’s pattern is a minimum tier several generations behind current parts and a recommended tier roughly at console-equivalent performance. We are deliberately not naming specific models, because Rockstar’s last two PC ports arrived roughly 12 and 19 months after their console debuts, and any model name we printed today would be a guess dressed up as information by the time a port ships.
OS. 64-bit Windows. We are not naming a minimum Windows version, for the same provenance reason as the section above: the GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 PC listings are not in our registry, and both shipped years before Windows 11 existed, so quoting either as a floor for a 2027-or-later port would be worthless.
”Leaked GTA 6 PC specs” lists have no provenance
Be blunt about this, because a lot of traffic is being harvested off it. A published spec sheet is a document with a source. It comes from Steam, from the Epic listing, from the Rockstar support site or from a Newswire post. If a page shows you a GTA 6 minimum and recommended table and cannot link you to one of those, the table was typed by a person guessing, usually to rank for exactly this query.
The tell is specificity without provenance. Real requirement lists name exact SKUs because someone benchmarked them. Invented ones also name exact SKUs, because vagueness looks less authoritative. Ask where the number came from. When there is no answer, you have it.
There is a second version of this that is subtler: sites reprinting the console specs above and relabeling them as “GTA 6 PC requirements.” The console figures are real. The relabeling is not.
What to watch
The first genuine signal will be a storefront, not a rumor. A Steam or Epic product page appearing with GTA 6 on it, even without a date, is the moment requirements become real, because store listings require publisher-supplied specs. A Rockstar Newswire post announcing the platform would land at the same time or earlier.
Take-Two has already taken its quarterly turn. The company reported Q1 FY2027 on August 7, 2026, before market open, and the written results release did nothing for PC players: its future-lineup table lists Grand Theft Auto VI on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S for November 19, 2026, with no PC entry beside it. Our line-by-line read is in Take-Two’s Q1 FY2027 results.
The most recent dated event on the record belonged to Rockstar, not to the finance calendar. On August 6, 2026 it announced Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look for August 27, which premiered on Netflix at 3 p.m. ET and reached Rockstar’s own YouTube channel and the GTA VI site at 9 p.m. ET the same day. Rockstar has published nothing about its runtime or contents, so treat it as a date, not a preview. Until a storefront appears, the number of official GTA 6 PC system requirements Rockstar has published stays at zero, and any table claiming otherwise should be able to show you where the numbers came from.
