Core claims sourced to official Rockstar / Take-Two material. How we tier claims →
TL;DR
- You can pre-order GTA 6 in India right now: Rs 5,999 Standard, Rs 7,499 Ultimate on PlayStation Store and Xbox Store.
- The boxed version is a download code, no disc; Vijay Sales has a verified pre-book at the same Rs 5,999.
- Amazon.in hides its price and Flipkart’s only listing claims a PC version. Stick to verified channels.
- Order before November 20 to get the Vintage Vice City Pack plus one month of GTA+.
- Watch for Rockstar’s official IST unlock time; the PS Store listing points to midnight, November 19.
India’s pre-order window opened June 25 alongside the rest of the world, and the pricing landed kinder here than in most markets. The official channels are simple and verified; the marketplace listings are where it gets messy. Here’s the full map, checked listing by listing this week.
The digital route: PlayStation Store and Xbox Store India
The cleanest way to order is the storefront already on your console. We pulled both India listings directly this week: the PlayStation Store India page lists Standard at Rs 5,999 and Ultimate at Rs 7,499, and the Xbox Store India listing shows the same two numbers to the rupee. No import pricing, no marketplace middlemen, and the game sits in your library the second you pay.
Both listings carry the global pre-order bonus: order before November 20 and you get the Vintage Vice City Pack plus one month of GTA+. That settles a question Indian players have asked for a while — the subscription works here, and the India store pages say so in writing. Two pieces of fine print: the GTA+ month auto-renews after the free period unless you cancel, and the Xbox India listing says the free month must be redeemed within 180 days of pre-ordering. Set reminders for both.
Digital also sidesteps every headache in the next section. The boxed edition contains nothing the digital edition lacks: no disc, no exclusive items, no lower price. If you don’t specifically want a box on a shelf, you can stop reading after this paragraph and go order.
GTA 6 pre-order India retail options: who actually has it
The boxed edition exists in India, with the same catch as everywhere else — the box holds a download code, not a disc. Here’s every retail channel we checked, ranked by how much you should trust it.
Vijay Sales is the one fully verified boxed listing. Its PS5 Standard pre-book is live at Rs 5,999, exactly MRP, and the product page is refreshingly blunt about the format: “A disc will not be included in the box.” No markup, no ambiguity. If you want the box, this is currently the safest counter in the country.
Games The Shop has a code-in-box product page for the game, but the price never rendered when we checked. Likely a legitimate stockist; confirm the number on the page before paying.
Amazon.in technically lists the PS5 Standard edition, but treat it with care. The page hides its price until checkout, and the listing appears to be a third-party seller rather than Amazon retail. We could not verify what it actually charges, so don’t assume it matches MRP. No Xbox boxed listing surfaced at all.
Flipkart is a skip. Its only GTA 6 result is a marketplace listing advertising a code-in-box “for PC” — and no PC version of GTA 6 exists, announced or otherwise. Whatever that listing is selling, it is not an official pre-order.
Croma and Reliance Digital appear in aggregated pre-order coverage as additional channels, but we could not verify a live listing at either. File both under unconfirmed until you see a product page yourself.
What it costs, and where India sits globally
Every legitimate channel prices identically: Rs 5,999 Standard, Rs 7,499 Ultimate. At current exchange rates that’s roughly $71 against the American $79.99, which makes India one of the cheaper official markets in the world — regional pricing actually doing its job. One pattern worth naming: every verified boxed listing in India is the Standard edition, which lines up with global reporting that the Ultimate Edition sells through console storefronts only. If you want Ultimate, digital is the route, and since Rockstar lets you upgrade Standard to Ultimate after launch, nothing is lost by starting cheaper either way.
That’s the short version. The rupee-by-rupee breakdown (what the extra Rs 1,500 buys and how India compares with other regions) lives in our GTA 6 India price guide.
The no-disc catch for Indian buyers
Whichever route you pick, you are buying a download. The boxed edition ships a code; redeeming it starts the same enormous download every digital buyer gets, and an internet connection is required to install even the single-player campaign. The full background on that decision is in our no-disc explainer. The India-specific angle is bandwidth: if your broadband plan carries a FUP or a daily data cap, a launch-day pull of this size can eat a real chunk of your month, and Rockstar hasn’t published an install size yet. For a game of this scale, plan for a very large one.
The fix is pre-load. Downloads open November 12, a full week before launch, so a capped connection can spread the download across several days instead of fighting launch-night congestion. Order before the 12th, start the pre-load the moment it opens, and November 19 becomes a button press.
One more code-in-box reality: a redeemed code ties the game permanently to one PlayStation or Xbox account. No lending it to a friend, no resale. The box is a shelf ornament, not a copy.
Launch timing for IST players
The launch date is November 19, 2026, and yes, the India store pages showing “18/11/2026” refer to the same moment. The PlayStation Store India listing carries a release timestamp of 6:30 PM UTC on November 18, which converts to exactly 12:00 AM IST on November 19 — the pages are displaying UTC, not announcing an earlier date.
Read plainly, that timestamp points to a midnight IST unlock. But Rockstar has not announced an official launch hour for any region, and at least one fan calculation circulating online claims a simultaneous global unlock at 10:30 AM IST instead. The two cannot both be right. Until Rockstar speaks, treat midnight IST as the store listing’s strong hint, not a promise, and don’t book November 19 leave around either number.
The deadline that is certain: November 20. Pre-order before it, on any channel and either edition, and the Vintage Vice City Pack and the GTA+ month attach automatically.
What to watch
Three things will change this page. First, an official launch-hour announcement from Rockstar, which settles the midnight-versus-morning IST question for good. Second, the retail picture filling in — an Amazon.in price finally showing, Games The Shop rendering a number, or Croma and Reliance Digital producing listings we can verify. Third, Take-Two’s earnings call on August 7, where official pre-order figures are expected and where insiders project Trailer 3 could land in the same window; that’s a prediction rather than a leak, but a new trailer historically sends pre-order demand climbing.
Until any of that moves, the play is straightforward: console storefront for zero friction, Vijay Sales for the box, and a wide berth around anything claiming to sell a PC version.
